Optional Airport Transfer and BriefingIf you have opted for the optional airport transfers, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha airport and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Pre-trek briefing at your Moshi hotel. You should be planning to arrive at least one day before the start of the trek. Today we will spend having a pre-trek briefing. Hotel to Marangu Gate - Mandara hutThe 5-day Marangu Route adventure starts with a morning briefing at your hotel, followed by a drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m/6102f). After acquiring permits, the trek to Mandara Hut (2,720 m /8,922 f) begins through the rainforest, where rain gear is crucial. The night is spent in huts, providing comfort and shelter. Altitude-related precautions are emphasized, including hydration, avoiding alcohol/caffeine, and potential use of altitude sickness medication. Professional guides with extensive Kilimanjaro experience ensure safety and offer insights into local flora, fauna, and natural beauty, making this trek both thrilling and educational.

Mandara Hut to Horombo HutAfter a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, you'll emerge from the rainforest and continue on an ascending path through heathland, where giant lobelias and groundsels dot the landscape. The journey takes you into open moorlands, characterized by small shrubs as the primary vegetation. A stop halfway for lunch offers breathtaking views of Mawenzi, one of Kilimanjaro's iconic peaks. By late afternoon, you'll arrive at the Horombo Huts, nestled beneath the spectacular Kibo Summit viewpoint, as temperatures begin to drop.

Acclimatization dayExperience a landscape transformation on your hiking day, from lush heathlands to rocky highlands between Mawenzi and Kibo. Take breaks to enjoy the views and get ready at the huts for the next day's climb to the summit. Make sure your water doesn't freeze. Rest well to save energy for the tough climb ahead to Kilimanjaro's peak, which is a big achievement in your journey.
